Is it Friday yet?? This week is dragging. I just want to go home and sit by our Christmas tree with the pugs.
This is my favorite picture of Phoebs. She rules.
I'm meeting up with my awesome friend/web master extradinare this weekend to finalize everything for the new blog. I'm hoping to have it up within the next week. I can't launch it fast enough. Have I mentioned how much I hate this purple blog? Over. It.
That's all I got. I'm boring today. Sorry.
The 2010 Philadelphia Half Marathon is over!! My personal pace {ing?} partner, Lori and I managed to knock off 4 minutes from our previous race and set new pr's today!!!!
We couldn't have been happier with the outcome. Hoooray for us.
13.1 in 1:49 at a pace of 8:10. We were definitely psyched!! The route was fantastic. A few hills but nothing we couldn't handle. The race started at 7am and boy was it chilly out. Brrr.. Around mile 6, I whipped off my long sleeved shirt. This little lady was no longer cold, girfriend was HOT! Lor wore her shirt the entire run, cause she's cool like that. As soon as we crossed the finish line, all I could think about was my metal. Give me my metal!
This race was bittersweet as it was our 3rd half marathon we've run together and the last half for the year, wahhhhh. I'm so proud of myself for completing 4 half marathons in the last 7 months. If you had asked me last year if I would {or wanted to} run a half, I would of laughed in yo face! Lor and I already have 2 halves lined up to run next year. She'll be running the RNR Virginia half in April, and I'm running the RNR Dallas half in March. There's also a half scheduled sometime in April at Tyler State park. We plan to run that too. In December I'm running a couple of 5K's and joined the Bucks County Runner's winter series for their weekly 5, 8 and ten milers at Tyler State Park. I'm a chick who needs to run with other people if it's long distance.
Oh, Lori likes her metal too
Back home and ready to relax! Have a great Sunday guys!
Crap, I almost forgot to tell you. My first toenail fell off in bath tub today!! Now, normally I would be totally grossed out by this, but honestly, after setting a new PR, I think losing a toe nail is kind of bad- ass. Does this mean I'm a true real runner now? HAHA.
Justin Bieber is the reason I have bags under my eyes today :)
As you guys know, after my radio show yesterday, I went to the Izopd center to interview all the screaming fans waiting in line to see their true love, Justin Bieber. We were collecting food to help out the Community Food Bank of NJ, so for every pound of food they brought, they got an extra raffle ticket for a chance to meet Justin. The line was 2 miles long at 3:30! Can you imagine? Everyone had bags and bags of non-perishable items. it was quite the site. Two girls brought 950 lbs. of food.
950 lbs!!!!
Overall, we collected 20,000 lbs. of food for the food bank. It was an awesome day!!
In total, 24 screaming girls got to meet Justin. It was insane. What I loved the most about yesterday, was seeing all the dads with their daughters. It reminded me so much of me and my dad. He used to bring me to every concert when I was a kid. One dad told me this was his 8th Justin Bieber concert with his daughter. Dad of the year!
Boston fun!
First off, I can't do anything until I post pic's of the cutest little beige hippo I've ever seen, Miss Elle.
As you can see, she was thrilled to see me too
"stop taking picture's Auntie Lisa."
You can't tell me Elle doesn't resemble a beige hippo
Harvard square. Notice my flannel?? Yup, Target.
Night before 1/2 marathon means CARB LOADING!! This was eggplant parm, but I only ate about 1/4th. It was too much food {and not even that great.}
our cousin Racheal, Linds and me.
my dad's cousin Louis and her husband David. Louis is a social networking machine. She goes to 2-3 "tweet-ups" a week. LoLo is a nut on four square too.
It was a fun filled weekend of eating nothing but crap. I miss Boston already :0(
Anyway...time for bed! Talk to you tomorrow!
Hi guys! Hope everyone had a fab weekend. It went by so fast. Boo. As you can see from my earlier post, my mom and killed it at Target. So much fun. Before I left for my dad's yesterday, my mom, Bran, nan and I hit the Guilford Diner for a little breakfast. Nom nom nom.
My bro and mom
Brandon is practicing on being a serious lumber jack, haha.
It's only Monday, sigh....
We came. We conquered.
The pictures speak for themselves.
do I really need to explain what happens next?
We got our goof on
Target Christmas raid 2010 was quite the success. Pretty good for only working with half the decorations. We managed to pull this off while the Target peeps were literally unpacking Christmas stuff all around us. We got some looks, but whoooooofc!
Weekend was great. Got to spend Saturday evening with my hometown besties. I drank wine. Four glasses. That never happens. I kinda liked it :0)
L-R: Nic, Temp, Holl, Annette
LOVE my gf's to death. Sucks that they live up there, and I live down here. We may not always talk on the phone {or even fb, text, tweet, email, bbm, etc} every single day...I mean, I'll go weeks at a time where I won't all actually talk to them one on one, but when we all get together, we pick right up right where we left off.
Such a fun weekend. I need another day or 12 off!
Cheers to awesome and amazing girlfriends!!
Happy Halloween!! We had a total of 5 "trick or treaters." Pathetic. Our hood sucks!
We landed in Newark at 12:30 this afternoon. Awesome timing. We mocked 8 to Panera for lunch and then came home, unpacked, Stu watched football, I went grocery shopping and then headed out on a nice 6 mile run. Have I told you lately how much I LOVE running in this weather? It was picture perfect.
WEDDING PIC'S! Out of respect for Eddie and Michelle, I'm only posting one pic of them, as I know they want to be the one's to share their special day with friends and family. I don't want to spoil their surprise ya know?? Their wedding was beautiful. It was lovely and Michelle looked drop dead gorg!
Here are a few pic's from the day
We were in Key Largo, FL where it was 85 degrees. Rough.
For the record, this was the best KEY LIME cake I have ever had, and I don't even like key lime.
Congrats Eddie and Shell! We love you guys!!
My friend Nick dug up these pic's of us from 10 years ago when I worked in Tampa at 933FLZ.
Tampa was where I landed my first full time on-air mid-day gig. I'll never forget that day. Lot's of amazing and wonderful things happenend to us when we lived in Tampa. For instance, we got PHOEBE there. Six months after Phoebe came along, Stu proposed to me. A few months later, I got my Black Chevy Blazer. Oh Tampa, the memories.
Look at me, a younge brown haired 21 y/o.
Tgif! We made it to the weekend. Hallelujah!
There's nothing better than starting out your morning with a piping hot cuppa pumpkin spice coffee.
Love. I also LOVE the FALL!
How could you not?
What I love about the Fall
Hope you have a "fall-ulous" weekend :0)
Saturday, I met up with Ruthie for an early morning run along the West Side highway. I think we did about 5 miles. I realized that I hadn't set my garmin until we were about 1.5 miles in. Opps. Later on Saturday afternoon, we met up with Michelle and Eddie for the Paula Deen show!
PAULA DEEN called me "darling!"
Michelle and I are waiting in a long ass line to see PAULA
Paula was awesome. Exactly like she is on tv. Totally adorable and over-the-top personable. The interview was held inside the Times Center and ran about 1.5 hrs. The last 20 minutes, they let the audience ask Paula a questions. You know I jumped at the chance. When I got up to the mic, my heart was pounding. I don't do well speaking in front of small crowds. Crazy huh?? The convo went something like this:
Me: "Hi Paula."
Paula: "Hi darling."
Me: "My husband and I love your silly salt. We dump it on everything."
Paula: "Isn't it good? I use it on meat, seafood, baked potatoes. It adds so much flavor."
Me: What do you do with all the food after you make it {on your show??}
Paula: "We make 3 versions of whatever I'm baking. The first version is for pictures and camera shots only. The second version is the "after" and the third version is me making the actual dish." After we finish shooting the show, we give the food to a local food bank."
Me: "Nooooo way!". That's great!!
Then I nervously walked away. I LOVE PAULA!! After the interview, we scrambled down stairs to get my cookbook signed.
I'm still freaking out. I was just so over-joyed to meet Paula!
Don't I look terrified?? Move it along lady, it's my turn to talk to Paula!!
MONEY SHOT
For the record, I've never been to a book signing. Ever. Paula was the first and last. She holds a special place in my <3
So that was my Saturday. Now on to Sunday Funday.
Yesterday I ran a 5K and WON {overall woman.}
WTH? I have no idea how to get my iPhone pic's to rotate upright. This is ghetto, but you get the idea.
All I wanted was that damn metal, and I got it! The goal for this particular race was to set a new pr. My best time so far still sits at 22:19. Yesterday I finished 3.1 in 23:18. While I didn't set a new pr, I did take the #1 spot for women, and honestly, that felt AMAZING. Guess I'll be running another 5K ;0)
After running a ton of errands and basking in my #1-ness, I managed to stay in one place for 25 minutes and throw together our Slow Cooker Sunday meal. We made a "Sweet n Savory" veggie pot, thanks to Hungry-girl.
It was FANTASTIC!!! We ate it with a nice dark whole grain bagette. I had two mongo slices with butter. Hey, I was #1 yesterday. I ran hard for that bread, haha.
Sweet & Spicy Veggie Pot
Ingredients:
2 cups cubed butternut squash (about half a squash)
1 large eggplant, stem removed, peeled, and cubed
1/2 head of cabbage, cored and cut in chunks
1 zucchini, sliced into 1/4-inch coins
1 large onion, chopped
1 cup chopped carrots
One 15-oz. can pure pumpkin
One 6-oz. can tomato paste
1 1/2 tbsp. brown sugar (not packed)
1 tsp. chopped garlic
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt, or more to taste
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper, or more to taste
1/4 tsp. ground ginger, or more to taste
1/4 tsp. ground cumin, or more to taste
1/4 tsp. chili powder, or more to taste
Directions:
Place all cut veggies in an extra-large bowl and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine all other ingredients and thoroughly mix. Spoon this mixture over the veggies and stir to coat.
Transfer mixture to a crock pot with a capacity of four quarts or more. If needed, pack it in tightly. (It will cook down.)
Cover and cook on high for 3 - 4 hours or on low for 7 - 8 hours, until veggies are very tender.
Stir well and serve!
MAKES 10 SERVINGS. NOTE, this def DOES NOT serve 10. More like 4.
