so..about that cliff bar

IMG_0372
It didn't last very long. As soon as I was finished with my salad, I busted into this carrot cake cliff bar. It was unbelievable. I wish we had a freaking microwave here- I would of nuked it for 10 seconds. Can you imagine the yumminess of this tasty treat warm? I already know I'm having another one tomorrow. Deeeelish.

Have you ever tried the carrot cake flavor?? I picked it up this morning when I was getting my salad. I'll bring it with me to Boston. I know I'm gonna want a snack for the train ride up. YUM.

these muffins are deadly

After watching Carrie perform "Cowboy Casanova" on the CMA's, now I feel guilty for eating this peppermint chocolate covered pretzel from earlier today..ha

IMG_0364

And I shouldn't of made these chocolate chip pumpkin muffins tonight either. Thankfully, I only licked the spatula.

Click here for the recipe. I used dark chocolate chips, instead of milk chocolate. The darker the chocolate, the better in my book.

sweet & salty

Not gonna lie, I could really  go for another chocolate covered peppermint pretzel rod right about now. I can't stop thinking about the one I had yesterday. Mmm. Leave it up to Paula Deen to whip up these yummy chocolate covered pretzel rods. Check out her recipe here. These babies look scrumptious. I'm thinking about making my own fun festive pretzel rods now. Stu hates pretzels, so this works out great. More for me :0)

taylor+cookies=no brainer

LISA!!!!

Did you get Taylor's Christmas CD?????? YOU MUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so good, I bought it yesterday at Target and I've listened to it about hum…..20 times, when I baking cookies last night!!! ***Also side note on that, I made Paula Dean's Monster Cookies, TO DIE FOR!!!! If you are interested I can get you the recipe, or it's in her latest cook book, the one with her family recipes in it. I highly recommend you add these cookies to your list for the holiday season!!! The are not healthy but the are heavenly, and it's the holidays!!!*** Anyway back to the CD there are only 6 songs on it, my only complaint. But she did a great job, I know how much you love her and it was only 6.99- no brainer ;)

Stacy

Christmas-tree

Hi Stacy-

LOVE TS's Christmas cd. Why'd she stop at 6 songs?? I've been listening to her album, along with Amy Grants', and of course Mariah Carey's . I downloaded Josh Groban's "Noel" and Martina McBride's Christmas albums last night too. I'll listen to those on our way up to Boston this weekend.

What is your favorite Christmas cd?? What gets you in the holiday spirit??

On to Paula Deen. Those cookies sound ridiculous. I should make them for our jock meeting tomorrow. I'm pretty sure the all male staff I work with would devour them in 4 seconds flat. Thanks for the heads up girl!

wonderful wednesday

TGIW!

Hope you are having a magnificent day so far. I couldn't get off the 1 train fast enough. I had to rush over to Wasa's coffee cart to not only get my morning cup of half & half joe, but to pay him for yesterday's coffee. I talked his ear off so much that I walked away without paying him. Shame on me! I'm so embarrassed. Wasa was so sweet, and insisted I didn't owe him. I was like "are you nuts"?? "Take my money". All is good. I threw a $5 bill at him and ran off, cause I'm sneaky like that.

Can't wait for the aromatherapy facial I'm getting tonight. I'm prepping the skin for our big trip up to Boston this weekend. We're visiting my sis, her bf, and our niece Elle. Lindsay wants me to take a spin class with her on Saturday morning. Umm, yeah, lp's never taken a spin class before. Can't we just run?? This should be interesting.

Random, but last night Stu and I listened to John Mayer's new album "Battle Studies". It's unbelievable. I already know it's gonna be one of my favorites. On to the ipod it goes. Stu surprised me with tix to his cd release concert next Tuesday night at the Beacon Theater, so as you can imagine, I am very excited! We need to prepare, and familiarize ourselves with all his new material. Yes, we are groupies. "Battle Studies" will be in stores, well, Tuesday (Nov 17th).

pro food journal

On my sister's awesome new blog; GOODIESGALORE, she said she had a terrible eating day and that she feels disgusting. My un-solicited advice to her is:

"How many times do I have to tell you, keep a food journal!! That is the key. You know I LIVE by mine. It keeps me in check every single day. I know most people don't believe in weighing themselves everyday, because "weight is just a number".. yes, it's exactly that. Being aware of what you weigh will keep you aware and focused on what you're eating. I LOVE looking back a year, or 2 yrs ago and seeing what I ate that day, and how much I weighed. Actually reading back and looking through what you've eaten, how it made you feel, cals, time, date-all of that visual re-enforcement is more par for the course. Keeping a food journal takes some getting used too, but sh*t, if you can bust out your camera for every damn meal, drink, and snack you're consuming, you can certainly jot a few lines down in a notebook. Listen to your big (but much shorter) sister :0) Trust me, this works. Even our girl Carrie Underwood keeps a food journal".

Speaking of journals, today marks the end of my 5th food journal. Each notebook tracks approximately 6 months worth of meals. Happy 2.5 year anniversary to my fabulous food journal keeping skills. I rock.

peppermint perfection

I told you I'd hit Borders again. I need to fill out my Borders card application already. Must accumulate mad points so I can start getting free beverages. I was craving something sweet and salty this afternoon, luckily, Bords has all their holiday munchies out, so I grabbed a peppermint dipped pretzel rod (110 calories). It was PERFECTLY PEPPERMINTY!! To go along with my treat, I got a caramel cream coffee too. OH, and a bag of peppermint coffee. What an afternoon.

IMG_0352 My sister resorts to her "cubby hole" at the library, and I have my own little nook at this Borders over-looking 34th st. People watching is always one of my favorite past times. I couldn't focus on my blog, all I did was watch everybody go about their day.

borders is my new starbucks

P179pour_coffee

I usually have some time to kill before my train comes. Lately I've been spending it at my new hot spot- Borders. I pass it by drinking an un-needed cup of something and reading a book for 20 mns. I was there yesterday and the "peppermint mocha trio" caught my eye. The guy in front of me ordered one, and holy hannah, it looked amazing. Nice and frothy, full on hhwwhip cream with peppermint shavings, the whole nine. I was about to order it, then chickened out and got a caramel coffee instead. Anyway, I looked up the cals, and it's not too bad. Here's what you can expect if you're craving some holiday goodness;

Normally I wouldn't waste my calories on drinks like these, but whoooofc, it's the holidays damn it.  I deserve a Christmas inspired drink everyday once in while.

Let's hear it for Seattle's Best "Three Cheers For the Holidays" yummy coffee creations.
