tanning is bad, bad , bad!

Sunsettaneonline286pk100108Shocking. Three recent studies show that there is no such thing as a healthy tan. Some people even want tanning beds to be banned for those under 18. Meanwhile, season 2 of the E! reality show, Sunset Tan just wrapped. Awesome. All the chicks on that show will shriveled up raisin faces by the time they're 32. Where will the cameras be then??

Some of my favorite bronzers are-

-Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick
-Nars bronzer in Laguna Beach
-Tarte "Park Ave Princess"
-Clarins dark tanning cream
-Mac bronzers

The bronzing lotions I use are-
Tan Towels (not a lotion but a towelette)
Xen-Tan
L'Oreal sublime towelettes

I have found that all of these work great. Who the hell needs a germ infested tanning bed, when quality "real looking" sunless tanners are available??

What about guys? we like to tan too!

No one said you can't use these products too. Go nuts!

As an on air personality, you should know better than to make a comment about "3 new studies" without citing your sources.

Like John said above, go to www.uvtalk.com to see a LOT more than 3 that will tell you why a tan can be healthy.

I've tanned moderately since I was 15 and I'm 32. Still look like I'm in my early 20s. Moderation sweetie! And moisturize, would ya!!

I concur with Amy and Aimee.

those sites are aupported by tanning companies. I work for one of the areas top dermatologist and I am gonna just tell you what I know...If you go in the Sun wear SPF, a little color that comes after wearing the SPF (30 please) is fine. Tanning beds with direct unfiltered exposure to UVA/UVB rays are a big no no, you might look great now and even 10 years from now but little do you know when Squeamous Cell Carcinomas and Basal Cell Carcanomias and Melanomas may appear if you are doing the beach thing just be smart and safe, stay out of the beds. Creams and lotions are the true fast safe way. I like Tan Towels, Sublime Bonze tan towels and Faux tan from Bare essentuals they all give awesome color

Amy-There is a HUGE differnce between "sunlight" and "ultra violet light". No where in that write up does is state "tanning beds are a healthy way to get your daily dose of vitamin d". Sure, some sun exposure is healthy for you, I'm not saying I never sit in the sun..point is, just be safe about it. Tanning beds are horrible for you. With all the fantastic "fake bake" tanning creams and lotions on the market now, why would you risk getting skin cancer by frying yourself in a tanning bed? As someone who used to be a self proclaimed
tanorexic, I know how bad it is...having 13 moles taken off and tested for melonoma isn't fun. Looks like you and John are the one's that need to do a bit more research. Tanning beds are BAD for you period!!!!

Lisa! I had a wedding this past weekend, took your advice and bought "Tan Towels". I received so many compliments throughout the night---I think I might use them all fall&winter :) Thank you for another great product suggestion!!

PS: Ladies & gentlemen, lighten up! This is a blog, which I believe Lisa namely intended for everyone to share what they know, which means citations are a formality and not necessary. And honestly, you all need to face reality--(you guys just don't like what you're hearing!). Check out this article which cites that "Exposure to tanning beds before age 35 increases melanoma risk by 75 percent".

I agree with Lisa and the others. I worked in a tanning salon for years and finally stopped tanning about a year ago when a good friend of mine had to get a mole removed and it came back cancerous. I, too, had a few moles removed but lucky for me they were not cancerous. If you don't believe that tanning is bad for you, continue to fake bake it and you will eventually realize that it's not the best for you once you start seeing moles pop up left and right. Why do you think dermatologists tell you all the time to skip the tanning beds?? Enjoy your skin when you are in your 50s and 60s but me personally, I would like to look younger than I am :)

"Amy-There is a HUGE differnce between "sunlight" and "ultra violet light"."

OMG! That's just too funny! lol
